Say it With Your Heart- Experience Girlfriends Heart to Heart Open Discussion on Women’s Heart Health

Brunch with Brands, along with Mattie Clay Branding & Public Relations will host Girlfriends Heart to Heart, an open discussion on self care, money management and nutrition and fitness. The afternoon dedicated to Heart Health Awareness Month will take place Saturday, February 10, 2018 and will be held at Roosters Southpark. Tickets and vending are available via www.girlfriendshearttoheart.eventbrite.com. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.

Charlotte, NC – January 22, 2018 — In honor of National Heart Health Awareness Month, Brunch with Brands will host Girlfriends Heart to Heart – Focus on You, Finance and Fitness. The interactive brunch will take place Saturday, February 10, 2018 and will be held at Roosters Southpark.

Forty-nine percent of African American women over the age of 20 have heart disease and 50,000 women die each year. Sadly, only one in five women believe that they are or can be affected. The Girlfriends Heart to Heart is a call to action to encourage women to understand, recognize and act on the signs that could lead to heart disease or heart failure.

The afternoon will feature a panel of experts that will speak on mental and physical self care, money management and proper diet and exercise. Featured panelists are: Trina Bonner, MSSW LCSW, Lakesha Reed-Carter, MSN RN, Lacrisha Thomas, finance professional and Dr, Lisa Folden, DPT.

Girlfriends Heart to Heart was created by Shakeema Bouyer, founder Mattie Clay Branding & Public Relations and creator of Brunch with Brands. In the early hours of Saturday, December 2, 2017 she was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. Her diagnosis came less than one month after burying her grandmother, who died as a result of a massive stroke and had also been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in May 2012. As a result of her personal experience, Shakeema has chosen to take this opportunity to help educate her community on reducing the risks that could lead to high blood pressure and related heart complications.
