Diversity, Musicality and Community…this is the Queen City Awards!

Dec 16th 2017 The Queen City Awards showcased at the Oasis Temple in Charlotte NC.
But question…what made this award show so spectacular?

Was it the fact that this event is the culmination of many music genres together under one roof showing support to each other? Or maybe it’s an event that showcases the fashionable flair of many individuals, from models to CEOs, a little Country mixed in with B Boy swag, popping with Prep flair……

Or could it be the opportunity for vendors to share their services to potential customers, thereby building and strengthening their brands?

Cameras popping, music blaring, dancers, and energy that permeates through the attendees that is captured by WCCB that night, showing once again why The QCA has been ongoing and a staple for the music community for 11 years.

That could be it…..

The show was hosted by none other than The Ultimate Host Nuff Ced, whose antics and clean comedic abilities kept everyone laughing and truly engaged. There were many great performances this night, examples, from the energy of DRC performance to J Quin and Queen Essence. Ya Girl Nikki from Power 98 WPEG introduced The Hamiltones, whose special performance to honor Anthony Hamilton as he was presented with the Trendsetter Award. This was special to Anthony; as he accepted the award and noted how his love for music, as well as his hopes to always help others with the gift given to him.

Another highlighted moment: former Mayor Jennifer Roberts’s presentation to radio legends Ace and TJ the Community Award, for their tireless work in the community with various programs such as Grin Kids, Second Chance Prom and internships.

Amidst all the activity that night, a major highlight to me was the presentation made by the CEO/Founder of the Konnected Brands and the man who brings the Queen City Awards to this city every year: Kevan Glover. He spoke passionately about the importance of giving back to the community and to the youth , as he presented to 25 students that night from the Northwest School of the Arts the Konnected to Excellence Scholarships, which gives each student the opportunity to attend a workshop with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 2018.
After the show’s conclusion, winners and attendees migrated to TCB 54 Hundred located at 5400 Nevins Road for the after party. 92.7 the Block radio personality Ally the Pub hosted and kept the energy and celebration going well into the night! Thanks to TCB 54 Hundred owner Chris Burgess for an amazing time.
