The Round Bistro located in Gastonia N.C. was a unique find, upon a suggestion from a friend,
The artwork on the walls and warm brown tones from the furniture and fixtures set the tone for a great dining experience. The menu hails a “Regional Cuisine” created by Chef Jack Acheson, a visionary of blending various styles of cuisine to fully enhance flavors within. From fish, poultry, meats and fresh vegetables.
We started with an appetizers, Fried Asparagus with a flavorful remoulade sauce. Not over fried, and the freshness of the vegetable was maintained within the light golden breading. Then a Fondue served with a platter of mixed veggies, apples, and crusty bread cubes. Fondue was very good, as you can taste the robust hint of beer and several cheeses….
Next, half a Sundried Tomato and Chicken Wrap with a Crab Bisque. The whole lump crab, sweet and highlighted with hints of cream and nutmeg was wonderful. And the sub, grilled chicken with gooey cheese and marinara sauce, another plus!
Finally, Salmon poached in olive oil, served with seasonal Herbed Vegetables. The salmon was lightly season and seared to perfection, topped with a salsa that was out of this world.
Too much eaten to enjoy one of there scrumptious desserts, so that will allow us to return for another visit!
