KG: Why did you want to become an Author?

JQY: I became an author because I’ve always had an interest in writing. I remember being in school in creative writing classes and loving the opportunity given to create stories. I remember having a journal for years, so now as an adult having went through some situations, I want to share these experiences. Some have been funny things that have happened, others, life lessons but I use my writing as an extension of my creativity.

KG: What is your inspiration?

JQY: I am inspired by wanting to create a story that captures the attention of a reader and evoke some type of emotion. New things inspire me, and just that raw emotion I receive from a person when they have gotten a painting, picture or one of my books. I’m inspired by my ability to “step out of my comfort zone and see how rewarding things can be” because most of the time people are quick to say they don’t know how to do something. Have you really put forth an honest effort?

KG: Which do you prefer most painting, designing graphics or writing books?

JQY: Awwww man, are you really gonna make me choose? I would say give me some paint brushes before anything else. I love doing portrait paintings and just painting period. I can easily sit at my computer and do graphics all day, no food, no phone just in a zone. I love creating. Writing, when I can BE STILL, so in that order.

KG: In your latest release, you incorporated your artwork into your story, what made you make this decision?

JQY: I incorporated my paintings in my story to show people how diverse I really am. My character is an artist which I made him be on purpose as a way to cross promote my actual paintings. As a new author, I want to engage with my readers as much as possible. I want them to know what I like, what services I can provide because, in these times, you have to wear multiple hats in order to be successful.

KG: Describe your writing?

JQY: My writing style is unique. I believe in the approach, how descriptive it is and just the overall execution. I literally think of what I want to write about conceptual wise, turn my computer on and begin typing. Like Jay-Z can freestyle a whole song, one after another, I can approach my stories in the same regard. I just go with what seems like the natural course on how things should play out. My stories are relatable, like conversation pieces. Visually you can see what I’m describing and lose yourself in the story, that’s what I aim to do with all my writing.

KG: What makes your storytelling ability so different than other writers?

JQY: I incorporated my paintings in my story to show people how diverse I really am. My character is an artist which I made him be on purpose as a way to cross promote my actual paintings. As a new author, I want to engage with my readers as much as possible. I want them to know what I like, what services I can provide because, in these times, you have to wear multiple hats in order to be successful.

KG: What is next for you?

JQY: Next for me is “DICKMITIZED 4” at some point this summer maybe release “MOVE DAT DOE 2” and I’m playing with the idea of a Christian fiction book by the end of the year, maybe earlier. I’m always painting or drawing in between time so please check for that on my Instagram @firstborn_designs or my website at www.firstborndesgns.com
